Courses:
Understanding and working with emotional-physical barriers
This eye opening workshop introduces and explores the connections between emotions and physical symptoms. It looks at how neurological memory of trauma can far outlast intellectual memory. It provides an alternative reason for movement restriction, pain or recovery.
Learn how previous trauma can create barriers to healing. Develop techniques that help raise your patient's awareness to the presence of these restrictions. Work with the body and tissue reactions during treatment or rehabilitation exercises to begin gently and safely releasing the memories to facilitate your patient in moving forward when they are ready.
Who is this workshop for?
Anyone who has a personal or occupational interest in learning about how the body remembers injury or illness and the effects that can have on daily activities, sport performance or rehabilitation.
NB. This is not a counselling course.
Course format options:
This course is 16 hours of attendance time. You can choose to study this as either a single 2 ½ day workshop or over several sessions (3 hours minimum per session) as one-to-one tuition or as a private group. At the conclusion of your studies there will be an informal practical assessment giving you the opportunity to demonstrate your skills and understanding. The tutor will be able to identify any areas where further support would be beneficial. A certificate of attendance will be awarded at the successful completion of the assessment.

EVALUATING AND PRESCRIBING EXERCISE;
Warm ups, Cool downs and Rehabilitation
Learn how to evaluate exercises, break down or build up movements to create unique and progressive exercises that will enhance sports performance or provide effective rehabilitation for someone who has experienced injury or illness.
These are essential skills for any Practitioner who works with patients trying to regain or improve movement, balance or general activity levels. It complements manipulation techniques and massage perfectly, encouraging safe movement following treatments, maintaining treatment gains and giving the patient self management techniques to continue their progress towards recovery.
As a Coach, Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer or Physical Education Teacher understand the different components of movements, break them down or build them up to address movement dysfunction or restrictions in an individual or team. Increase speed, strength and reaction skills. Reduce injuries occurrence by ensuring your competitors are performing the most appropriate exercises in their warm ups to match their performance requirements.
Experience the benefits of being able to prescribe exercises and stretches effectively and understand how to re-educate the body to move naturally.

This course combines Guided Home Study with 12 hours attendance time and 2 case studies for completion after your attendance days. You will receive your Home Study pack 4 weeks before the attendance days. You can complete the live study as either a 2 day workshop or over several sessions (3 hours minimum per session). To receive your certificate of attendance you will need to complete 2 case studies following your live study time.

INJURY RECOGNITION & MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES
If an injury has occurred, be confident in recognising the symptoms that tell you which structures have likely been damaged, the severity of the injury and what is the most appropriate treatment.
Being able to determine if a person is safe to continue exercising without further risk of injury or whether they should stop or adapt their activity is an essential skill for any health or fitness professional.
Learn how to recognise the signs and symptoms of the different types of injuries. Look at common injuries for the shoulders, spine, hips, knees and ankles. Be able to perform a basic physical assessment and know how to use ice or heat therapy safely and effectively.
These techniques are also effective at identifying restrictions in movement allowing a Coach or Personal Trainer to adapt exercises and demands to regain full function and prevent injury occurring.

Anyone who has a personal or occupational interest in the effective management of injuries. Health and fitness professionals including Coaches, fitness/exercise Instructors and Personal Trainers.

This course combines Guided Home Study with 10 hours attendance time. You will receive your Home Study pack 4 weeks before the attendance days. You can complete the live study as either a single 1 ½ day workshop or over several sessions (2 hours minimum per session). An informal practical assessment will conclude your studies and a certificate of attendance will be awarded at the successful completion of that assessment.

ADVANCED PATIENT ASSESSMENT;
Consultation skills & Physical assessment
Learn about listening skills, body language and how to create an engaging space for patients/clients when conducting consultations and assessments. Review common health disorders, injuries and symptoms considered to be ‘red flags’ for referral.
Confidently perform postural assessments, physical (biomechanical) assessments and special tests for each major joint of the body. Identify injuries or restrictions that may be affecting specific structures, range of movement or functional ability. Interpret your findings to develop a highly effective and individualised treatment/training programme.
Who is this workshop for?
Anyone who has a personal or occupational interest in learning about safe, successful weight management. Health and fitness professionals including coaches, fitness instructors and personal trainers.
Course format options:
This course combines Guided Home Study with 12 hours attendance time. You will receive your Home Study pack 4 weeks before the attendance days. You can complete the live study as either a 2 day workshop or over several sessions (3 hours minimum per session). The course requires you to complete a practical assessment to a satisfactory standard for you to receive your certificate of attendance.
